“The best way to observe a fish is to become a fish.”

This course is a really rewarding experience which only takes 3 days and will forever change the way you see the ocean.
You'll start with knowledge development to gain an understanding of diver safety and life-underwater before you proceed to skill practice in the swimming pool.
Once you have mastered underwater skills related to your scuba equipment, safety procedures and buoyancy, it’s time to head to the ocean!

4 open water dives in Catalinas island, where you will demonstrate your new skills and explore beautiful dives sites.

  • Diving theory knowledge development
  • Training in confined water (pool session)
  • 4 Open water dives in Catalinas island
  • PADI private instructor (max 4 people)
  • All needed equipment and course materials
  • PADI certification and instructor fees
  • Fruits, snacks and drinks on board.

What is the schedule?

Before the day we meet: Watching PADI Theory Videos

Day 1 : Flexible (4 hours - usually afternoon)

- Meeting your instructor completion of the paperwork

- Theory - Knowledge reviews

- Pool session - skills practice

Day 2. 6.45am - 12.30pm

- Meeting at the dive shop.

- Riding to Catalinas Island and enjoying the ocean views. (45-50 min)

- Open Water dives 1 and 2 - Demonstration of some of the pool skills and exploration of two different dive sites

Day 3. 6.45am - 12.30pm

- Meeting at the dive shop.

- Riding to Catalinas Island and enjoying the ocean views. (45-50 min)

- Open Water dives 3 and 4 - Two different spots and demonstration of some of the pool skills.

- Final exam.

How long does it take?

This is a 3 day course (see schedule above).

What do I need to participate?

- Minimum age 10 years.

- Being comfortable in the water

- In accordance with the safety rules we will kindly ask you to complete this medical form before starting the program. (Please read it before signing up)

What do I need to bring?

- Videos watched and knowledge reviews* completed.

- Swimsuit, hat and sunblock

- Motivation and your best mood


*Those will be provided to you as soon as your reservation is confirmed.

Where and when do we meet?

- On Day 1 the pool session will take place in Tamarindo (you will receive a message / email with meeting point instructions).

- We can arrange transportation from and around Tamarindo, please let us know your location in advance (charges may apply)

Other important information

- Plan a minimum of 18 hours between the last day of this course and your next flight

- Pick up times may vary and will be discussed with you.
